Kids Love a Mystery

I was recently asked to represent the Northern California / Nevada chapter of Kids Love a Mystery.  This organization, sponsored by the Mystery Writers of America, brings together authors of juvenile and young adult mysteries with children, parents, teachers, and librarians in a nationwide celebration of mystery writing and reading that fosters literacy, deductive reasoning, and critical thinking skills.

Fourteen-year-old Gus González can’t get used to seeing his picture in the tabloids accompanied by ridiculous stories of being abducted by aliens, attacked by Bigfoot, and having the body of a lizard.  It’s all part of being the adopted son of one of television’s hottest stars -- Nicholas Hernandez of the hit crime drama, Desert Blood.

This amusing image can be sent as an e-card attachment to any email address. Share the fun of Desert Blood 10pm/9c and help spread the word about this exciting new mystery series for teens.

Visit the author’s website to send your card today!

For every card you send, you’ll be entered in a drawing for a SIGNED copy of the book!

Actor Nicholas Gonzalez

Meet my friend Nicholas Gonzalez.  Nick served as the inspiration for the character of Gus’s dad in Desert Blood 10pm/9c, and I can’t think of anyone better suited for the role.

You may recognize him from his appearances on popular television shows like The OC, That 70’s Show, Resurrection Blvd, and Law & Order: SVU.  He has also appeared in several movies, including Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid and the indie hit, Spun.

For the past five years, I’ve worked with Nick maintaining his website at
www.nicholasgonzalez.com. In the time I’ve known him, he’s given me a glimpse into the role Latinos play in today’s entertainment industry.  Much of what I’ve learned from him is reflected in Desert Blood 10pm/9c.

Thanks, Nick!
